Our Story
SCP is an education nonprofit that focuses on school fundraising toward robust, equitable public education opportunities for all students.
Stanton Community Partners has its origins in the fight to save Edwin M. Stanton Elementary School from closure. Between 2011 and 2013, a dedicated group of families and advocates successfully lobbied to overturn a proposal by the School Reform Commission to shutter the much-loved neighborhood school.
In 2013, SCP formally incorporated as an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to providing Stanton with financial support to propel the school’s mission of “Academics + Arts = Excellence”.
SCP supports enrichment opportunities, after-school programs, and facilities upgrades to the Stanton campus. Recent initiatives, including the newly-renovated school yard—recently recognized by the Philadelphia Water Department as one of 13 Philadelphia School District “Stormwater Pioneers” for its eco-conscious design—a remodeled cafeteria, and ongoing foreign language and arts co-curricular programming through The Clay Studio.
